The Education Committee organized the Poetry Recital Competition for the younger children.

The competition was held on SATURDAY 5TH MARCH 2016 at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Oshwal Academy, Mombasa from 8.30 to 11.30 am.

The groups were as follows:

Group A for the 4-5 years old
Group B for the 5-6 years old
Group C for the 6-7 years old

Invitations were send out to the following schools:

1. Oshwal Academy
2. Jaffery Academy
3. Swaminarayan Academy
4. Fort Jesus Academy
5. Coast Academy
6. N.A.Rahim Nursery Centre
7. Nasserpuria Primary School
8. Tiny Tots Kindergarten
9. Mombasa Academy
10. Light Academy
11. Wima Complex Academy
12. MSB Education Institute

All of the above schools except MSB Education Institute took part. In total 87 students took part in this competition. Each group was given a choice of four poems to learn and recite.

The judges for the competition were Mrs. Jamal (ex head teacher of Aga Khan Nursery School) and Ms. Liza Chula (an up -coming lawyer).

After the competition the winners were announced and all participants received Participation Certificates.

They were then treated to a soft drink and a snack.

The following students were declared winners in the relevant groups:

4-5 years

2 - Mariam S. Karim from Jaffery Academy
3 - Shanuk Eliatamby from Mombasa Academy

5-6 years

1 - Tiffany Rugiri from Oshwal Academy
2 - Abdulaziz Shahame from Fort Jesus Academy
3 - Keya G. Dodia from Jaffery Academy

6-7 years

1 - Aayan Natha from Mombasa Academy
2 - Mariam Nathani from Nasserpuria Primary
3 - Ammarah Natha from Mombasa Academy

The judges were also presented with appreciation tokens.
