Lions Club Of Mombasa Bahari Handed Over The Thirteenth Borehole Project
Lions Club of Mombasa Bahari handed over their Thirteenth borehole at Vingazini Village in Kanamai in Kilifi County on Sunday 11th February 2018, which was organized by Club Project Convener Lion Zainul Dar. This borehole was very generously donated by Abid Kapadya and family from USA.
On arrival at the borehole, we were welcomed with traditional songs and dances by the village people.
After a short introduction, we were entertained by the village children, parents and teachers. Miss Pamela who is the one looking after the children whose parents cannot afford to educate them, and some who are orphans.
They praised the donor together with the Club for bringing water to the village. She said that for them
‘Water is Mother’
She also said that this borehole will serve around 2,000 people from her village and the nearby villages.
President, Lion Mwami Se-Mayama welcomed all the members for coming for the handing over ceremony. He also showed gratitude to the sponsor for their kind donation and told the village people to look after the borehole and allow anyone to use it for free. He said that they should not misuse it and not to waste the water.
He also thanked Mr. John Karuiki for sinking the borehole complete with the pump.
The village elders thanked the club, especially the donors for the borehole. They said that this borehole has brought life to our village. After the opening the borehole the club handed packets of milk to all the children.
It was a worthy activity and members were happy acting in the motto "We Serve" as they provided the commodity “water is life” to the beneficiaries' door step.
