Olives Rehabilitation Centre 2014

On visitation of our District Governor (411 A) Davinder Eari and his gracious Lady Lion Jasvinder Eari along with Lions Bahari visited the Olives Rehabilitation Centre on Saturday 29th November 2014.

This centre is in Bamburi area, Mombasa and caters for 200 children. These children are either from very poor families or orphans between the ages of 2 – 18 years.

We were warmly welcomed by these children with songs and poems. The Head-teacher in his welcome speech talked about the centre and some of the challenges they face. He spoke about how some of the children have benefited from the education provided at this centre and have proceeded to higher education.

Our Club Convener Lion Reezvana thanked the Olives Centre for their warm welcome and also gave a brief history of Lionism. Club President Lion Akil & DG spoke about the importance of education and commended the centre for the great work they are doing. The District Governor suggested a library should be put up in the area and requested our club to look into it.

The club donated stationary material to the centre such as blackboard dusters, chalks and story books. Each child also received exercise books and a complete pencil case.

The Club President thanked all for attending and promised the centre that we shall visit them again in near future which brought a great cheer to all the children.
